Volunteer Opportunities


Would you like to join Sunset Elementary's volunteer family? Here you will find opportunities to share your time and talent with the children, teachers, and parents at Sunset as well as forms and instructions that you may need.

Additionally, our Volunteer Orientation is held in the fall to support your volunteer efforts, and help answer questions you may have.

Registering as a volunteer

Did you know that ALL volunteers need to ‘sign up’ or renew their volunteer status each year?

    The process is very simple for volunteers from last year:
  1. Go to the dadeschools website (www.dadeschools.net).
  2. Click on the Community link on the right side of the page.
  3. Click on the button that says ‘Login to Portal.’
  4. On the right-hand side, click Create an Account’ and follow the instructions.
  5. Follow the steps to login to the Community Portal. (Note: you may have an account in the Parent Portal, but this is an account for the Community Portal)
  6. Once you login, click on the link that says ‘Become a school volunteer.’
  7. Follow the instructions and your request will be processed.
We utilize VolunteerSpot to help request and organize our volunteers!  Look for VolunteerSpot volunteer requests from the Volunteer Coordinator to sign up.
